It’s late November and the regular downpour has turned to a mini drought. It has been the driest November on Banks Peninsula since records began.

That means our “normal” plans have had to be thrown out the window. The dry weather is perfect for lavender and some growers are contemplating picking flowers now, weeks earlier than normal.

The difference in flowering times between our Pacific Blue (on the left) and Grosso (on the right) is clearly shown in the attached photo.

We usually harvest Pacific Blue in late December/early January with Grosso following a month later. Watch this space for updates this year!

Thinking about Christmas? Here’s a great idea on how to create something both personal and pleasurable – NZ inspired exfoliating lavender soap.
You only need three ingredients; melt and pour soap, our essential lavender oil and poppy seeds. Follow these easy steps:
* cut up around 1/2 a kg of melt & pour soap (easily available on-line or locally) into small chunks
* put soap pieces into a heat-safe glass bowl or measuring cup
* melt soap
* add 30 drops of essential Pacific Blue lavender oil
* add 2 tablespoons of poppy seeds                                                                                                                                                 * stir in the poppy seeds. You want to be sure that the soap is cool enough to keep the poppy seeds suspended    evenly throughout the soap.
* pour soap into silicone mold. You can choose any shape or size of silicone mold you like e.g. cupcake mold
* let the soap solidify completely before removing it from the molds, around two hours
* Enjoy the scent and the feeling on your skin.

Don’t forget its free shipping until December 15th – grab some organic lavender while you can!
