Spring has sprung in the lavender fields. The first signs of growth started around three weeks ago and the new growth is now rapidly taking hold.

Spring of course means the weeds are also starting to grow. Our mulched glass (see last months post) keeps some weeds away, but in light of our organic thinking, we hand weed our plants.

Donna joined us from Christchurch and very diligently worked her weeding way through 5,000 odd plants. It was a great effort as hand weeding is demanding on backs, knees and hands!
